Dr Demetris Kyriacou
Visiting Lecturer
Dr Demetris Kyriacou is Special Teaching Staff at CIM and has been a member of the teaching staff for the past 4 years. Dr Kyriacou completed his doctoral studies in 2010 as a member of the ‘Learning Societies Lab’ research group at the University of Southampton, with a subject on computer science focusing on enriching life-long user modelling in the social networking and e-commerce era. Since his graduation, Dr Kyriacou has been a very active academic in the Cyprus scene, focusing his teaching and research on subjects such as computational intelligence, web engineering and programming, and human- computer interaction, among others. His research interests focus around the area of user modelling infrastructures for enabling life-long user modelling.

Dr Fotis Pavlou
Visiting Lecturer
Fotis holds a BSc degree in Business Administration and an MSc in HRM & IR. He is an Associate member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development since 2008; he is certified by OEB as an Industrial Relations & Labour Legislation Professional and has obtained a PhD in Business and Management with concentration in HRM at Manchester Business School. During his Doctorate studies, Fotis also worked as a seminar leader of various HRM topics at the University of Manchester. His research interests focus on the way that various HRM elements are intended; implemented and perceived and his favorite quote is that ‘the most important assets of any important business walk out the door at the end of the day’ (Allen & Wright 2008: p88).

Mr George Skordis
Visiting Lecturer
Mr George Skordis has 21 years working experience which of 11 years is in Senior Management positions. He has 5 years international experience as Deputy CEO in the Banking sector in Eastern Europe.
He has 13 years teaching experience for academic and professional diplomas plus ad-hoc courses in Europe and Middle East. He is a leader but at the same time team player always pursuing the best possible outcome. George is always assisting and coaching his employees and students. He has excellent results record with his students in all courses that he is lecturing. He is generously passing his vast real life working experience to his students.

Mr Marios Charalambides
Visiting Lecturer
Marios Charalambides holds a BSc (hons) in Accounting & Finance and an MSc in Business Management from the University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich, UK. He is a Certified Labour/Employment Relations Officer by the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) and the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance. He is a Member of both the Chartered Management Institute, UK, and the Cyprus Human Resource Management Association. Marios is working for CIM as the Director of Human Resources & Student Affairs and as a Senior Lecturer in Business, HRM and Marketing. He worked for several years as the Head of Marketing and Human Resources in leading organizations in Cyprus. He also has extensive experience in education, training and consulting, and has published a number of articles in various business magazines and other publications.

Dr Myria Kkali
Permanent Lecturer
Dr Myria Kkali is a full-time lecturer at CIM and the Academic Director at the Nicosia Campus. Her research interests include sensemaking and sensegiving practices in organisations, data-based marketing and social marketing.
Myria has been working in academia since 2012, when she was employed as a GTA in the Nottingham University Business School (Marketing department), where she received her PhD in 2018. She has been working as the Academic Director (Nicosia) at CIM since June 2017, where she delivers modules in topics such as marketing management, consumer behaviour, research methods, global marketing and contemporary marketing challenges. She has presented her own research at the 2015 British Academy of Management Conference, held in Portsmouth in October 2016, and her conference paper was published in the conference proceedings.
Myria is very interested in bridging the gap between academia and industry and has published a number of articles in the Business Bulletin of the CIM Research Centre. She has also delivered training seminars and has participated in consulting projects. She has developed close ties with many industry specialists since her move back to Cyprus in 2016 and has co-founded an NGO focusing on bringing about social change through music, by bringing opportunities to children and young people from low socio-economic backgrounds. Myria acts as the marketing and communications officer of the organisation.

Ms Nectaria Hadjiyianni
Visiting Lecturer
Nectaria Hadjiyianni has a degree in Applied Accounting from the Oxford Brooks University, a Master of Laws in International Business with Employment and Human Resources from the Cardiff Metropolitan University and is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK and of The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Cyprus (ΣΕΛΚ). She is also a holder of the professional certificate in Life Insurance and Insurance from the Insurance Institute of Cyprus.
Nectaria is a professional banker at a major bank in Cyprus. Her professional experience includes working in several sectors of the bank with major the Retail Banking Services. She is also a part time trainer in the bank, delivering lectures to bank employees both theoretical and practical. Nectaria is an Accounting and Finance lecturer, developing and delivering courses of Professional Qualification (ACCA) as well as Academic Programs in Accounting and Finance with her primary teaching experience in Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting, Advanced topics in Financial Accounting, and Financial Statements Analysis.

Ms Theodora Physounis
Visiting Lecturer
Theodora Physounis was born and brought up in London, UK. She finished school in Hampstead and went on to study Economics after which she achieved BA (Hons) and Masters Degrees. Since 1992, she has been teaching both Economics and the English language at various levels privately and at different institutions. Theodora taught Economics and related subjects at the University of Westminster, London for eight years where she also undertook research and contributed to publications. She also taught Economics and the English language at the Philips College, Nicosia for nine years. She joined our institution in 2012 where she teaches Economics, Business English, Banking and related subjects and Professional Skills for Business and Finance.

Mr Yangos Hadjiyannis
Permanent Lecturer
Yangos Hadjiyannis studied at the University of Nottingham where he earned an LL.B. with a First Class Honours. He then moved to the University of Cambridge (Trinity Hall) to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies and then for an LL.M. in International Law, which he earned with a First Class. Achieving 1st place among Law students at Trinity Hall College, he was proclaimed a Bateman Scholar for Academic Excellence. He moved back to Cyprus in 2007 to successfully complete the Cyprus Bar Examinations and became a member of the Cyprus Bar Association. Since 2008, he has been the Deputy Director-General of the Cyprus Institute of Marketing, in charge of business development and strategy. He is a lecturer of Commercial Law & Marketing at CIM and a Visiting Lecturer for Management at Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow. He is also a Chartered Marketer and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. He is a member of the Cyprus Advertising Control Agency and advisor to many companies on issues of strategy and management.

Dr Christos Hadjiyannis
Permanent Lecturer
Dr Christos Hadjiyannis has been Director of Quality & Research at CIM since 2015, where he has overseen a strengthening of the research culture at CIM and an institutionalisation of quality assurance at the Institute. He continues to teach and publish in English Literature but on a daily basis he oversees quality assurance at CIM. Christos holds degrees from the Universities of Nottingham, Cambridge, and Edinburgh; has held fellowships at the Institute of English Studies (University of London) and Wolfson College, (University of Oxford), and has taught at the universities of Oxford, Edinburgh, and Cyprus. He is on the executive committee of the European Association for Distance Learning (EADL) and a regular attendee of EADL and EURASHE seminars and workshops.

Ms Melina Karaolia
Visiting Lecturer
Melina Karaolia is a Partner at M. Eliades & Partners LLC since 2008. Her work encompasses a diverse range of corporate and litigation matters. She advises clients in multiple commercial, civil law issues and business law disputes. She concentrates on corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. She advises and represents clients in international corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and legal matters relating to project structuring and business development. Her multiple practice areas also include information technology law, insurance law, company redomiciliations and competition law. Melina has further received training and experience in the negotiation and drafting of contracts for Oil and Gas by the leading oil and gas lawyer J. Jay Park QC and the international legal adviser in Energy and Mining Dr. William T. Onorato. She is currently a Member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. Melina is a qualified Arbitrator in Cyprus and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. She has also been trained and is currently actively interested in working with Mediation. She is an accredited and registered Mediator in Cyprus and has recently obtained the EMTPJ cross-border mediation certification, specializing in the settlement of international commercial disputes. She graduated from the Law School of the University of East Anglia, UK, with an LLB Honors degree. Melina holds a diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Queen Mary University (London) and is a qualified Barrister-at-Law, a member of Gray’s Inn London and the Cyprus Bar Association.

Professor Theo Hadjiyannis
Permanent Lecturer
Professor Theo Hadjiyannis studied for two years at Exeter College in the United Kingdom, where he received a Diploma in Business Studies. He then continued his studies at Loughborough University, obtaining a B.Sc inSociology & Economics. Professor Hadjiyannis then pursued his studies at the City University, London, where he obtained his M.Sc. in Administrative Sciences, majoring in Marketing. In 1976, Professor Hadjiyannis returned to Cyprus where he commenced his career at a large building material manufacturing firm in the post of Export Manager. He later joined the Central Bank of Cyprus, where he stayed until 1980. He has been the Director- General of the Institute ever since. In August 1983, he was appointed Honorary Education Liaison Officer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). In 1987, he was elected President of the Cyprus Association of Private Tertiary Educational Institutions. In 1991, he was elected a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing. He has various publications in acclaimed Journals and he is an advisor to many local and international companies.

Dr Evie Michailidis
Permanent Lecturer
Dr Evie Michailidis , completed all her studies; BSc in Psychology MSc in Occupational and Organizational Psychology, PhD in Psychology at the University of Surrey, UK. Her PhD aimed to explore the feeling of embitterment in the workplace. During her PhD studies she has worked as an Academic tutor and a Postgraduate and Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in the Psychology Department at the University of Surrey. Evie has also worked as a research fellow on various projects including; “A Systematic Review for Multiple Sclerosis Society”, A Systematic Review of models of care that help maintain independence and vitality for Frail Elderly Adults”, “ A technology feasibility study for multi-scale modeling of biological time in healthcare impact”. Her main research interest lies in the field of Occupational Health Psychology, such as stress, work life balance, work-related rumination, sleep, embitterment, burnout and in general anything around employees’ health and well-being. She has written articles for both peer-reviewed academic and non-academic publications, along with presenting at numerous academic and professional conferences. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology. Evie is also an accredited BPS Ability & Personality/Psychometric test user.

Dr Christiana Charalambidou
Permanent Lecturer
Dr Christiana graduated from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 2009 with a BA (Honours) in Economics with French, part of which she completed at the Université des Sciences Sociales in Toulouse, France. She then completed her postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE), earning an Msc in International Employment Relations and Human Resource Management in 2010. Before returning to the UK to continue her studies, Christiana worked for three years as a Human Resources and Business Development Manager at a prominent corporate services provider in Cyprus. She obtained a Phd in Economics from the University of Sheffield, UK. Her research interests are in the field of applied microeconomics, primarily in the areas of labour and education economics.

Mr Dinos Ioannides
Visiting Lecturer
Dinos Ioannides is a management trainer and consultant with a proven track record of over 25 years working with Cypriot and Global firms. His areas of expertise span sales, marketing, communication and leadership. He has extensive experience in the field of customer experience management and process improvement. Over the years he has delivered lectures and training courses to various bodies and tries to make time to teach as often as possible as it is something he finds greatly rewarding. His academic journey began in electronics and communications engineering and led to business administration. He has a proven track record of continuous improvement in productivity and operational performance, sales and profitability in the companies he has worked for. His managerial roles included customer service, sales, commercial and general management. He has worked on improving total quality in various companies and to this end has achieved certification as an ISO auditor. Having worked with employers such as Apple authorised representatives and IBM business partners, he spent his last ten years, as an employee, with DHL before leaving the position of general manager, transitioning to partner in Business Insights, a customer experience management company. Its driving philosophy is a research and measurement-based improvement of the customer experience. Everything that happens in a company should contribute to a unique customer experience, outperforming competition on all counts. He is a certified trainer and process improvement advisor.

Mr Marios Timinis
Visiting Lecturer
He is a holder of a B.A (Hons.) in Accounting & Finance, an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He worked for an audit firm in London for five years. On his return to Cyprus he was appointed as a Deputy Director of the Internal Audit Department of a private Group of Companies for three years and since 2005 he holds the position of Financial Manager. In addition, he was appointed for a period of about two years by the ACCA as a marker of the Advanced Taxation – Cyprus Variant examination paper.

Mr Michalis Pekris
Visiting Lecturer
Educated in the UK as an engineer and later as a financial mathematician, went on to practise and qualify as a Chartered Accountant. Currently employed in a C-suite position in the Financial Services Industry and until recently, a Banker, associate Head Trainer with Ernst & Young Academy of Business, University of Nicosia, University of Cyprus as well as Cyprus Institute of Marketing. Michalis has over 15 years of experience delivering courses in Accounting and Finance to audiences all over the world, from trainee accountants to Board level Directors. Recently he has obtained successfully with Distinction both the LLM as well as the MBA qualification from a recognized UK University. His latest academic achievement is a Diploma on FinTech obtained by Oxford University.

Dr Constantinos Constantinou

Dr Constantinos Constantinou is the Director of Research and Editor-in-Chief of The Market: International Journal of Business. He has previously served as a post-doctoral Research Fellow and Associate Director of the Cyprus Centre for Business Research – The Cyprus Institute of Marketing. Moreover, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Centre for European and International Affairs, at the University of Nicosia (UNIC) and as a Media and Communication Trainee at the European Defence Agency, in Brussels. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the European University Cyprus (EUC), MA in International Relations and European Studies from UNIC and MBA/BA in European Studies from EUC. Further, his research focuses on political marketing and communication; specifically, on the marketing of war.

Mr Louis Kangas
Visiting Lecturer
Mr. Louis Kangas is a Visiting Lecturer at CIM. He is an experienced marketeer working in the largest FMCG group in Cyprus. Amongst others, he has developed experience in brand management, customer insight and advertising, specializing in marketing strategy and marketing management. He holds an MSc in Marketing from University of Bath, UK and a BSc in Public Business and Business Administration from University of Cyprus.

Dr Charalambos Constantinou
Visiting Lecturer
Charalambos is an ex-Partner of EY Cyprus and leader of the Consulting Services practice of EY in Cyprus. He has more than 15 years of international and local experience in offering consulting services related to performance improvement, risk management, financial management and strategic planning to both the public and private sector.
He has extensive experience in project management of large engagements, including project planning, coordination of multiple workstreams, overseeing of project delivery, and quality control of delivered services, client orientation and conflict resolution.
Charalambos is a PhD holder in Finance from the University of Cambridge, MSc holder in Economics and Finance from the University of Warwick and a BSc in Economics from the University of Cyprus. He has also significant experience teaching at several academic institutions teaching graduate and postgraduate courses (MSc/ MBA).

Dr Marios Georgiou
Visiting Lecturer
Dr. Marios Georgiou has been a Visiting Lecturer at CIM for the past two years, teaching International Marketing and Business Policy & Strategy for the MBA and BBA classes. He continues to be a supervisor for doctoral research for the Business School at Gloucestershire University. He is also active mentor for students at Warwick University and UMIST through official mentor programmes from the respective institutions. In addition to his doctorates and Masters dissertations, he has also authored academic papers. His working experience for over 26 years is with one of the largest oil companies globally (BP Oil). He has held various international management roles. Currently, he is the regional sales manager for BP Lubricants in the East Med and North East Africa regions where his main responsibility is to develop the business and grow the company’s market share in the area. During his PhD research at the University of Manchester (UMIST), Dr Georgiou was working at the University’s chemical engineering department as a Teaching Assistant. He studied Chemical Engineering at UMIST for a BSc and then received a scholarship and a part time teaching assistantship from the university to continue for MSc & PhD in distillation research. During his employment in BP he obtained a distance-learning MBA with Warwick University and, more recently, a DBA with Gloucestershire University. His main research field of interest is foreign market entry.

Dr. Georgia Thrasyvoulou
Permanent Lecturer
Dr. Georgia Thrasyvoulou is a full-time lecturer at CIM and the Director of Student Affairs and HR.
She holds a Psychology Degree from the University of Cyprus, a master degree and a PhD in Organisational Psychology from the University of Leeds. She is a licensed Occupational and Organisational Psychology Practitioner. She is also a holder of a Post-Graduate Certificate (PGCHE) for teaching and learning in Higher Education and a fellow member of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She has been a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Cyprus Centre for Business Research at CIM since 2017, where she is actively engaging with the centre’s research activities and conferences. She was acting as a part-time Lecturer and academic supervisor at CIM. She has been involved with lecturing in various Universities and Institutions including Leeds Trinity University and the University of Cyprus. Her working experience in the private and public sector in Cyprus as a practitioner Organisational Psychologist equipped her with professional experiences and expertise. She is an active member of the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology (EAWOP) and of Cyprus Psychological Association.
Her research interests involve various topics and areas such as job design and redesign, workspace design, employees’ well-being, organisational consultancy, organisational change and development, ergonomics, and career counseling and employability skills. Organisational Psychology, by nature, enables the innovative perspective in the research of various aspects, a fact that inspires my interests and activities as a researcher in the wider field of Business.

Mr Constantinos Pelecanis
Visiting Lecturer
Constantinos Pelecanis studied BAEcon accounting and finance at the University of Manchester. He has 4 years experience at KPMG and is ACA qualified with another 5 to 6 years post qualification experience. He is currently working at a smaller audit firm dealing with audit tax and accounting. Constantinos is an Icpac member and teaches part time. He is Career oriented, patient, with good managerial skills and positive attitude. He has always been considered as a team member and leader when necessary.

Prof George Zachariades
Permanent Lecturer
Asso. Prof George Zachariades is the Director of Undergraduate Studies at CIM. He is also an experienced senior management executive with experience from a multinational corporate environment, and has also worked as a Legal and Business Management Consultant across a wide spectrum of industries globally. Amongst others, he has also had significant HR, training and Organizational development experience.
He holds an MBA and PhD in Business backed by degrees in Marketing (British Chartered Institute of Marketing) and in Law (LLB). He has led many organizations through change management project engagements and seminars throughout Europe, Africa and South America working together with young graduates, managers and leaders with a focus on management skills, leadership, Project Management, corporate governance, finance and strategy.

Dr Nektarios Michail
Visiting Lecturer
Dr Nektarios Michail is a Visiting Lecturer at CIM and a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Commerce, Finance and Shipping at the Cyprus University of Technology. He is currently employed by the Central Bank of Cyprus as an economist at the Department of Economic Analysis and Research. Nektarios holds a PhD from the Cyprus University of Technology, with a thesis on financial development and economic growth. His research focuses on banking, economic policy, maritime economics and shipping markets, energy developments, and the macroeconomic determinants of stock markets. His recent work regarding issues of the Cyprus economy has been published in the Cyprus Economic Policy Review.

Ms Debbie Phylactou
Permanent Lecturer
Debbie Phylactou holds a degree in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations from the RMIT University of Melbourne, Australia. She has held several management posts in HR in various industries in Melbourne, including the Airline Industry and heavy manufacturing organisations. She also sat on Industrial Relations Tribunals, specialising in employment law. Furthermore, she worked at Latrobe University in Melbourne to set up and coordinate the Occupational health and Safety department. Relocating to Cyprus, she was involved in the HR field in the largest tourism organisations and was Head of Human Resources. She has been actively involved with external government organisations, the employment court and Trade Unions. Parallel to her full-time career activities, she has been a lecturer at the Cyprus Institute of Marketing since 1994 as well as a lecturer for the University of West London. Coupled with her industry knowledge and academic contributions, she prides herself on the success of her students since 1994, following their career achievements and ongoing development.

Elena Makedona is the Campus Manager, Limassol of CIM. Elena Makedona studied Business Administration and Management at USIU and is a holder of a BSc in Business Administration and MBA specializing in Marketing and Management. Ms Maria Stylianou

Mrs Maria Stylianou Michaelidou is the General Manager of the Limassol Tourism Board and Professor of Marketing and Consumer Behavior at the Cyprus Institute of Marketing. She has been pursuing a career as a marketing and management practitioner over a period of more than fifteen years. She has worked as a corporate marketing and communications manager and as a general manager mainly in the tourism, hotel, and destination management industries. Her work has covered nearly every aspect of applied management ranging from market research and strategic planning to press relations and staff training.
Mrs Michaelidou has successfully implemented European projects in the area of Sustainable development in the tourism industry. At the moment, she is leading the Limassol participation in the Civitas Destinations Project for Sustainable Mobility and a newly acquired Interreg project ‘ΕΥ-ΚΙΝΗΣΗΣ’ in the same field. Utilizing European Funding and strong local networking, she aims to contribute to the significant upgrading and promotion of sustainable mobility in Limassol. She is also actively engaged with professional working committees dealing with cultural, development and tourism issues.

Mr Marios Timinis
Visiting Lecturer
He is a holder of a B.A (Hons.) in Accounting & Finance, an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He worked for an audit firm in London for five years. On his return to Cyprus he was appointed as a Deputy Director of the Internal Audit Department of a private Group of Companies for three years and since 2005 he holds the position of Financial Manager. In addition, he was appointed for a period of about two years by the ACCA as a marker of the Advanced Taxation – Cyprus Variant examination paper.

Ms Stella Constantinidou

Stella Constantinidou is a founding partner of the law firm Constantinidou & Karaiskou L.L.C and lecturer of Marine Insurance and Shipping Law at CIM. Stella is a Qualified Lawyer and Legal Consultant admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association in 2004, and specializes in Corporate and Maritime Law. She studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science where she obtained an LLB Hons in 2003 and subsequently obtained an LLM in Maritime Law from the University of London in 2005. Currently Stella is conducting research in the area of Compulsory Marine Insurance. She organizes talks on researching and writing skills and analysis of legal concepts in the context of providing legal support to Start Ups.

Mr Yangos Hadjiyannis

Yangos Hadjiyannis studied at the University of Nottingham where he earned an LL.B. with a First Class Honours. He then moved to the University of Cambridge (Trinity Hall) to study for a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies and then for an LL.M. in International Law, which he earned with a First Class. Achieving 1st place among Law students at Trinity Hall College, he was proclaimed a Bateman Scholar for Academic Excellence. He moved back to Cyprus in 2007 to successfully complete the Cyprus Bar Examinations and became a member of the Cyprus Bar Association. Since 2008, he has been the Deputy Director-General of the Cyprus Institute of Marketing, in charge of business development and strategy. He is a lecturer of Commercial Law & Marketing at CIM and a Visiting Lecturer for Management at Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow. He is also a Chartered Marketer and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. He is a member of the Cyprus Advertising Control Agency and advisor to many companies on issues of strategy and management.

Dr Christos Hadjiyannis

Dr Christos Hadjiyannis has been Director of Quality & Research at CIM since 2015, where he has overseen a strengthening of the research culture at CIM and an institutionalisation of quality assurance at the Institute. He continues to teach and publish in English Literature but on a daily basis he oversees quality assurance at CIM. Christos holds degrees from the Universities of Nottingham, Cambridge, and Edinburgh; has held fellowships at the Institute of English Studies (University of London) and Wolfson College, (University of Oxford), and has taught at the universities of Oxford, Edinburgh, and Cyprus. He is on the executive committee of the European Association for Distance Learning (EADL) and a regular attendee of EADL and EURASHE seminars and workshops.

Capt. Valentin Mavrinac
Permanent Lecturer
Capt. Valentin Mavrinac has been lecturing at CIM since 2015. He is the Director of Shipping Studies at the Institute. Capt. Mavrina received his Ing. of Maritime Transport-Nautics from the Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka, after which he went to join the ocean-going merchant vessel as Deck Cadet. In 2012, he obtained an MSc. in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour from Cyprus International Institute of Management and in 2013 became QSHE-Marine Superintendent with his employer. In 2014, he enrolled on a Distance-Learning PhD in Management with a focus in Human Resource Management at Walden University, Minneapolis, USA, where he is now Final Status PhD candidate. He has been a visiting guest lecturer at the University of Rijeka (Faculty of Maritime Studies) since 2015 and, later that year, he began lecturing at the Cyprus Institute of Marketing (Limassol). His research interests include: HRM policies and practice in Shipping Industry; improving seafarers’ skills through Computer Based Training; lifelong learning in shipping industry; diversity and multiculturalism in shipping environment and their effects on performance; talent management in shipping industry; ethics and morality within the shipping industry and the effects of corporate social responsibility; selection and evaluation criteria used for senior shipboard personnel; e-navigation and its impact on safety and well-being of seafarers; and computer-based distance-learning in shipping industry.

Professor Theo Hadjiyannis

Professor Theo Hadjiyannis studied for two years at Exeter College in the United Kingdom, where he received a Diploma in Business Studies. He then continued his studies at Loughborough University, obtaining a B.Sc inSociology & Economics. Professor Hadjiyannis then pursued his studies at the City University, London, where he obtained his M.Sc. in Administrative Sciences, majoring in Marketing. In 1976, Professor Hadjiyannis returned to Cyprus where he commenced his career at a large building material manufacturing firm in the post of Export Manager. He later joined the Central Bank of Cyprus, where he stayed until 1980. He has been the Director- General of the Institute ever since. In August 1983, he was appointed Honorary Education Liaison Officer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). In 1987, he was elected President of the Cyprus Association of Private Tertiary Educational Institutions. In 1991, he was elected a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing. He has various publications in acclaimed Journals and he is an advisor to many local and international companies.

Ms Annita Petrou
Visiting Lecturer
Annita Petrou holds an M.Ed in Educational Psychology from the University of Manchester and in 2006 she obtained an MSc in Occupational Psychology from the Manchester Business School. In 2009, she was awarded the title of Chartered Member by the British Psychological Society (CPsychol). She is also a member of the Health Professions Council as a Registered Professional Psychologist in the United Kingdom. Annita also holds the EuroPsy certificate from the European Federation of Psychologists.
Annita has worked for RCB Bank Ltd until 2018, for ten years in the position of Manager, Human Recourse Business Partner having the responsibility for the selection and assessment of staff as well as in matters of training and development. Previously, she held positions such as Training and Development Manager and Human Resources Coordinator at the Intercontinental Aphrodite Hills Resort Hotel, Lecturer in Occupational Psychology at the College of Tourism and Management, as well as the position of Human Resources Advisor at the Intercollege Consulting Unit (Limassol).
Currently, Annita is a certified trainer and assessor for the Human Resources Development Authority in matters of trainers and training centers. At the same time, she is an external collaborator / trainer for the Cyprus Productivity Center and carries out training programs on a regular basis, presenting issues related to human resources development, training of unemployed people and the development of personal skills. She also collaborates with the Mediterranean Institute of Management as a lecturer in postgraduate diplomas in personal development. Annita has been teaching at Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM) and other smaller educational institutions since 2017 in various topics that fall within her field of expertise such as Strategic Human Resource Management, Business Organization, Work Behavior, Personal Skills Development, Leadership, Fundamentals of Management, Work Psychology and Psychology. Mr Nearchos Ioannou

Nearchos Ioannou is a Chartered Certified Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He graduated from the University of Dundee in Scotland U.K (Bachelor of Accounting(Honours), 1996).He has qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) in 2003, and was the 1st ACCA finalist in Cyprus in the December 2003 examination diet. He has been a key learning facilitator in one of the “Big 4” accounting firms, and is also a part-time tutor of ACCA courses for the last 15 years, as well as a private tutor for UK undergraduate students. He is an Audit director and an approved HRDA trainer. He is also the Co-author of Dr. Wells book Financial Statement Fraud Casebook. Mr Stavros Dimitros

Stavros Dimitros holds a BSc at Business Administration from Athens University, MSc at Shipping and Commercial Law from Southampton University, a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) and Member of the Educational Board of the ICS Branch in London. Since 2012 he has been active as a visiting lecturer in various institutions such as the Southampton University, the Southampton Solent University, as well as the ICS in London and has recently joined the CIM team. Mr. Zenon Papaphilippou

Mr. Zenon Papaphilippou is a Visiting Lecturer at CIM. He is an experienced asset manager working in the largest local banking group. He has also worked in a multinational investment firm as a portfolio manager across a wide spectrum of investment services globally. Amongst others, he has developed experience in quantitative finance and wealth management of large institutional and high net worth individual type of clients, specializing in fund management, investment portfolio construction and optimization.
He is a CFA Charterholder and currently serves as a Member in the CFA Society of Cyprus’ Board of Directors. He holds an Msc in Financial Mathematics from Warwick Business School with Distinction and a Bsc in Mathematics and Statistics. Dr Akis Kleanthous

Dr Akis Kleanthous is Part time Teaching Staff. He is married with three kids. He holds PhD degree in management (2017) from the Adam Smith Business School of Glasgow University in the UK, an MBA from European University Cyprus (2009) and a BSc in Finance and Accounting from Salford University in UK (1994). He is also a Fellow Chartered Accountant in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) (1999) and a Certified Internal Auditor in the Institute of Internal Auditors in USA (2011). He has worked as CFO in various private/public companies in Romania, Greece and Cyprus, engaged in a wide range of industries (including FMCG, food factory and airport handing services) and a private university in Cyprus, as external and internal auditor in Cyprus and as General Manager for a large local Credit Union. He has extended experience in implementing and managing change, in reorganizing departments and organizations, empowering personnel, automating and speeding up processes.

Mr Constantinos Kolokotronis

Constantinos holds an MSc in Accounting & Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) in London. Constantinos has extensive experience in banking and corporate finance. He worked in the Global Fixed Income division at Deutsche Bank in New York and in the Corporate and Institutional Banking division of the Royal Bank of Scotland in London. Constantinos has a diverse corporate finance experience gained at a wealth management firm in New York and at two Big-4 accounting firms in Greece and in Cyprus. In his corporate finance advisory roles, Constantinos assisted small and medium-sized businesses with a variety of transactions such as raising debt and equity, debt-restructuring exercises as well as performing complete valuation exercises. Constantinos is currently working as a financial manager at an international company headquartered in Cyprus. His areas of interest include business valuations, budgeting and forecasting and feasibility studies.

Mr Constantinos Silitziotis

Constantinos initial background is naval architecture and marine engineering and has an extensive experience is the shipping industry and having experience in various roles in the industry such as Technical Superintendent, New Building Supervisor, DPA/CSO and Marine Insurance and Claims officer. He is a fellow of the institute of chartered shipbrokers and member of the royal institute of naval architects and member of the Technical Chamber of Cyprus.
Constantinos holds a Master of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Shipping Management and a Master in Business Administration. He is a Chartered Engineer, licensed by the UK Engineering Council.

Mr Athos Kleanthous
Visiting Lecturer
Athos studied Applied Mathematics and Physics at the National Technical University of Athens, and obtained a Master’s degree in Shipping, Trade and Finance from CASS Business School. He started his career in the shipping industry, at Columbia ship-management as vessel operator, before joining the Global Gas and LNG desk of Koch Supply and Trading. At Koch, he worked in the key LNG trading hubs of London, Houston and Geneva, with his experience spanning LNG market analysis, Business Development, Origination and bespoke new-build projects. Athos has experience in negotiating various deals with end-users and traders through whole supply chain, through his involvement in lifting and selling multiple LNG cargoes from West Africa and the Atlantic to Japan and Korea, while monitoring and operating the corresponding LNG carrier. Athos also worked in Lavar Shipping and Interorient Navigation in Limassol, in Business Development and Commercial roles, such as Chartering and SnP. He is now working as Commercial Analyst for CHC, monitoring the Global LNG markets, contributing to the efforts to market the gas volumes discovered in Cyprus’ EEZ and finalise SPAs with IOCs.

Dr Katerina Pavlou

Dr Katerina Pavlou graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a BSc in Early Childhood Education, and continued with her postgraduate studies in Educational Psychology at the University of Bristol, UK. She is a holder of a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Southampton, UK. Her research interests lie in the area of attention biases to threat in anxious youths and adults. During her doctoral studies she taught undergraduate modules including statistics and empirical studies and participated in a number of leading national and international research conferences. Since completion of her PhD, she worked as a lecturer in Business and Organisational Psychology. During her academic tenure she delivered various Business related modules including Organisational Behaviour, Workplace Psychology, Effective communication in Organisations and Business Statistics. Dr Pavlou has been holding the position of Academic Director at CIM (Limassol) since September 2019.

Dr Roman Puchkov
Permanent Lecturer
Roman has more than 20 years of work experience including teaching and academic leadership roles with British Universities including Birkbeck University of London, University of Sunderland, University of Suffolk and Wrexham Glyndwr University as well as in private alternative education providers in UK and Cyprus.
Prior joining academia, in 2003-2008 Roman worked for UK Government Department for International Development (UKAid) where he had managed multi-million technical assistance projects focusing on public administration and economic reform in transition economies. Roman started his career back in 1998 in a management consultancy in UK, White Young Green International, working closely with the World Bank, IMF and private clients in restructuring mining enterprises. His long-term international project assignments overseas included China, Mongolia, Russia and Ukraine.
Roman’s specialisation is in energy markets, business strategy development and international HRM. Roman graduated from the University of Nottingham with his first degree in Economics with EU Studies and had obtained his postgraduate qualifications from London South Bank University. He completed his PhD in Industrial Economics and areas of his quantitative research remain in global energy consumption.

Dr Constantinos Constantinou

Dr Constantinos Constantinou is the Director of Research and Editor-in-Chief of The Market: International Journal of Business. He has previously served as a post-doctoral Research Fellow and Associate Director of the Cyprus Centre for Business Research – The Cyprus Institute of Marketing. Moreover, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Centre for European and International Affairs, at the University of Nicosia (UNIC) and as a Media and Communication Trainee at the European Defence Agency, in Brussels. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the European University Cyprus (EUC), MA in International Relations and European Studies from UNIC and MBA/BA in European Studies from EUC. Further, his research focuses on political marketing and communication; specifically, on the marketing of war.

Ms Sophia Nicolaou
VISITING LECTURER
Sophia completed her Law degree at the University of Hertfordshire, and her Legal Practice Course at The College of Law in London. After her studies, she stayed in London for around 13 years, where she started a career in Law. She then went on to work for London Metropolitan University, where she was involved in the systematic side of Higher Education for almost 10 years. This is where she found her passion for finding ways to improve a University experience for all students and her love for academia. She believes that the subject of law can be a crucial part of day to day life for everyone but wants to make the subject as relatable as possible for all students. She particularly is interested in Employment Law and was part of the Trade Union at London Metropolitan University. She also currently works at CIM as an Admissions and Accounts Officer.

Mr Graham Cowling
VISITING LECTURER
Graham Cowling is Operations and Insurance manager for Marlow Navigation, a large independent ship manager on the island of Cyprus. He is working on all aspects of the Group’s commercial chartering, operations and insurance for vessels under management. He is also involved with loss prevention and navigating officer development and training.
He began his seagoing career in 1978 as a cadet with P&O Steam Navigation Company before moving to the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company. He sailed on cargo ships, tankers and gas carriers.
He came ashore in 1990 to study for an Extra Master’s certificate at the College of Nautical Studies, Glasgow, UK. He then worked in a number of ship management roles including Fleet Manager, Technical Director and Operations Manager with ship owners and managers based in Cyprus, Hong Kong and London.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and is a tutor for the ICS ‘Understanding Shipping’ course. He is a Fellow of the Nautical Institute, a member of the Executive Board and Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee. He is also a past Chairman of the Cyprus Branch of the Nautical Institute.
He is married with one daughter.

Mr Panayiotis Hannas
VISITING LECTURER
Panayiotis Hannas graduated from Cardiff University, UK with a BSc in Maritime Studies and a Master in Business Administration (MBA). He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and a certified HSSEQ professional. Panayiotis has extensive experience in the shipping industry and oil & gas industry. He worked in various onshore and offshore positions around the world, in both operations as well as newbuilding projects. He is a visiting lecturer at the Limassol Campus of CIM, and he is currently employed as HSSEQ Manager, DPA and CSO in a ship owning company in Cyprus.

Mr Nicos Stylianou
VISITING LECTURER
Nicos has over 35 years of executive and managerial experience in ship management, including sea-going service, technical, engineering, operations, insurance and chartering. He has been involved/responsible for a variety of ship types, including tankers, bulk-carriers, cruise ships etc.
Being a Chartered Shipbroker since 1995, he’s been involved on the commercial business of the ships (feasibilities studies, chartering, claims handling and insurance) from early in his career. Nicos’ wide and deep experience is matched with even wider academic and professional qualifications. He has an LLM (Distinction) International Business Law, an MBA Finance, a M.Eng Mechanical Engineering, and a M.Sc. and B.Sc. Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Also, he’s Certified Hotel Administrator, Licensed Safety Consultant, Certified Vocational Trainer, and Academic Lecturer.
His wide expertise (both academic and professional) is nicely matched with his current occupation as maritime claims consultant, since marine claims are multi-dimensional (operations, chartering, insurance, legal, technical) and a multi-disciplined expertise is required for them to be successfully handled.
The hands-on experience is supported by numerous training certificates and diplomas covering both office and ship expertise. Also, he’s experienced lead auditor on management/safety/security/environmental systems.

Dr Maria Charalampous
VISITING LECTURER
Dr Maria Charalampous, completed her BSc in Psychology with a Minor degree in Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus; her MSc in Occupational and Organizational Psychology at the University of Surrey, U.K., and her PhD in Psychology at Coventry University. During and after her studies, Maria worked for a number of years as a full-time Lecturer in Business and Occupational Psychology in the Psychology Department at Coventry University. Maria’s research focuses on remote e-working and the impact it has on employees’ well-being. Her main research interests also include work-life balance, switching-off from work, resilience, as well as disability and neurodiversity and how to create a more inclusive workplace. Maria is an active researcher and applies a pluralistic methodological approach in her research, which includes systematic literature reviews, qualitative interview research, as well as quantitative survey data. She has also published samples of her work in reputable academic journals and other outlets, such as the European Journal of Work and Organisational Psychology, Employee Relations, and Palgrave Macmillan. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology. Maria is a psychometrician and an accredited BPS Ability & Personality/Psychometric test user.

Dr Georgia Thrasyvoulou
Permanent Lecturer
Dr. Georgia Thrasyvoulou is a full-time lecturer at CIM and the Director of Student Affairs and HR.
She holds a Psychology Degree from the University of Cyprus, a master degree and a PhD in Organisational Psychology from the University of Leeds. She is a licensed Occupational and Organisational Psychology Practitioner. She is also a holder of a Post-Graduate Certificate (PGCHE) for teaching and learning in Higher Education and a fellow member of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She has been a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Cyprus Centre for Business Research at CIM since 2017, where she is actively engaging with the centre’s research activities and conferences. She was acting as a part-time Lecturer and academic supervisor at CIM. She has been involved with lecturing in various Universities and Institutions including Leeds Trinity University and the University of Cyprus. Her working experience in the private and public sector in Cyprus as a practitioner Organisational Psychologist equipped her with professional experiences and expertise. She is an active member of the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology (EAWOP) and of Cyprus Psychological Association.
Her research interests involve various topics and areas such as job design and redesign, workspace design, employees’ well-being, organisational consultancy, organisational change and development, ergonomics, and career counseling and employability skills. Organisational Psychology, by nature, enables the innovative perspective in the research of various aspects, a fact that inspires my interests and activities as a researcher in the wider field of Business.
